"I have always been very drawn to the iconography of the former Soviet Union. Today it stands as a reminder of worse or better days gone by. One would have to ask the inhabitants of this small Ukrainian town north of Kiev. It is very difficult to be more than one hundred yards from Lenin in a populated area. From a society where everybody and everything had its use, the reminders, sometimes grimly, prompt a feeling of immovable uselessness"
